About Mathew Browne

I am a web developer from Carmarthenshire, South Wales. MB Web Design is my company, and I’m responsible for its day-to-day operations. I run the company from my home office in Carmarthenshire, where I live with my wife Louise and son George. My primary role here is as project manager and head of web development, with a roster of developers, coders and other content creators that I work with on a freelance basis to help produce websites that clients love.

Early career

My career in web development kicked off with successes in some major national and international competitions, and later graduating with a degree in Computer Science from University College London. I remained at University College London for three further years as a contracted developer while incubating my own agency, MB Web Design. In 2008, I left UCL to run this company full time.

My other experience, ventures and interests

Between July 2013 and October 2017, I worked as senior web developer and interim CTO for Vox Markets, a London-based financial technology. During this time I helped develop one of the UK’s leading financial websites, and it was a valuable learning experience in how a startup company progresses from seed funding to generating revenue.

I had nurtured an interest in photography for many years, achieving some success in competitions and gaining commercial interest in my work. In November 2017 I was offered a book deal with Amberley Publishing and formally commenced freelance work as Mathew Browne Photography. I sell prints of my work to the public, and accept commissioned work also. My first book will be published in October 2018.

In April 2018 I joined Snapp Guides as CTO. Snapp Guides is the leading app for travel photographers. My role here will be to oversee the company’s technical development and provide creative direction to the company’s growing body of work.
