This was a project which is grant-funded by the Engineering and Physical Science Research Council (EPSRC) under the supervision of Principal Investigator Professor Derek Hill. The aim of the project was to produce teaching material which ties in cutting-edge medical physics with the science curriculum to GCSE and A Level standard. Some key partners in this project include the BBC, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Edexcel and OCR.

The finishing touches are being made ahead of a September launch.

PHP developer
February 2006 – April 2006
Centre for Medical Image Computing, University College London

I worked on the Information Extraction from Images (IXI) project for several months to cope with the loss of a key developer. My work involved acquiring and setting up a suitable web server and producing a web interface for querying a database of medical images. These images are scans of volunteers for clinical studies; the aim of the project is to make this resource available to researchers worldwide.

Web, graphic and multimedia designer
June 2005 – January 2006
Centre for Medical Image Computing, University College London

I worked on a grant-funded public engagement project. The resulting website, How PET Works, is aimed at GCSE students and ties in cutting-edge medical physics (positron emission tomography) with the existing curriculum.

Freelance search engine optimisation (SEO) consultant
June 2005 – present

In the last few years I have expanded my professional web service portfolio to include search engine optimisation (SEO). This was in response to increased demand for the technique in small business websites. My involvement in the field has gone from minor link building strategies to large-scale white-hat development for clients’ websites.

Freelance web designer
July 1999 – present

Since producing my first commercial website as part of a work experience placement in July 1999, I have been designing (and redesigning) websites as a freelance activity. While studying at school and university, and more recently during my time away from work, I have been building a portfolio of satisfied clients and outstanding websites. This website features a selection of my favourite designs.
