About MB Web Design
My name is Mathew Browne. I am a professional web designer from Carmarthenshire, South Wales. I am a full-time web designer and search engine consultant, with clients all over the UK. I’ve recently finished a three-year contract as a web designer and PHP developer at the Centre for Medical Image Computing, University College London.
MB Web Design is my business trading name, though I don’t operate strictly as a “one man band” - I have forged partnerships with some of the best coders, translators and illustrators from around the world. Finding the best people for specific jobs is the secret of my success.
Education and qualifications
I attended Ysgol Y Gwendraeth comprehensive school in Drefach, South Wales. During my study, I took up web design as a hobby and entered several web design competitions. Some of my noteworthy successes are described in further detail on my web design awards page.
In 2005 I graduated from University College London with a Bachelors degree in Computer Science. More information is available on my CV page.
In the workplace
After graduating, I joined Professor Derek Hill on a grant-funded Partnership for Public Engagement project. More information is available on my CV page.
The success of the project opened the door for a second, larger grant and a two-year project. During this my role included web design, graphic design, interactive design via Flash, and PHP development.
Launching MB Web Design
Over the years I have worked as a freelance web designer during my free time. Steadily, I have grown a list of satisfied clients and outstanding websites.
With a substantial increase in enquiries in 2007 - the majority of which were recommendations from existing customers - I found the time was right to rebrand and relaunch MB Web Design, a one-stop-shop for business web design services. The relaunch offered an opportunity to announce new services including logo design, stationary design, website translation, online advert design and accessibility auditing, along with web development staples: web design and search engine optimisation (SEO).
